Cross Reference - New

When writing a paper, it is often necessary to number the diagrams and pictures and cite them in the text. If the positions of the diagrams and pictures are added, changed or deleted, the numbers involved need to be manually modified, which increases the workload of writing the paper and consumes a lot of time and energy.

The cross-reference function launched by Lattics will automatically complete the numbering of diagrams and pictures, and will automatically adjust the numbers when their positions change.

  1. Enable cross-references

Cross-reference is not enabled by default. If you need to enable it, you need to switch to the "Table" or "Image" elements in the "Style Template" interface and click the "Cross-reference" option. The default labels for cross-references are Fig and Image, so the cross-reference count will be displayed as "Fig 1", "Image 1". You can change it to any other text, such as "Table"

  2. Use cross-references

After enabling cross-references, enter @ in the text to look up the cross-referenced tables and images in the current article in the cite list.

  3. Merge cross-references when exporting

If multiple articles in the project have cross-references and you want to merge them, you can select them and click "Export" in the right-click menu, and then select "Merge bibliography and cross-references".

Limitations of Cross-Referencing:

Lattics is designed to be written in a card-style, so like bibliography, cross-references of charts and images are limited to the current article and cannot be used across articles. If you want to cross reference charts or images of other article, please consider merging the articles and then cross-referencing.
